Edible Canada Is Seeking an Assistant Manager / Event Coordinator

Vancouver, BC | Edible Canada is a multi-faceted company at the forefront of culinary tourism, which includes a retail store, tours of Granville Island and Chinatown, and Gourmet Kayaking trips. Edible Canada at the Market is a full service bistro, focusing on new Canadian cuisine. Our service style is unpretentious, welcoming, casual and fun – we are striving to offer one of the best dining experiences in the city by celebrating the best food, wine, beer and spirits from across Canada. Our open kitchen, 150 seat bistro features a private dining space, expansive patio and take out window for tasty bites. We are open daily for lunch and dinner, plus weekend brunch.

We are currently looking for an Assistant Manager/Event Coordinator who will work closely with our management team. The Assistant Manager/Event Coordinator will orchestrate service within the specified standards and guidelines as indicated by the GM during floor shift with attention to details, keen leadership ability.

In addition to the service responsibilities, the Assistant Manager/Event Coordinator will also be the main contact for the organization of events and private function, communication with guests, management team and sales/accounting department.

Responsibilities:

Ensure functions are properly prepped, staffed, and setup – this includes facilitating any necessary rentals.

Conduct daily pre-service meeting with the FOH – include details on features, VIP guests, exciting events, wine tastings, and daily service focus. Complete Day Brief sheet for concise communication to bistro staff.

Ensure cleanliness standards of the restaurant are met based on the guidelines set out by the GM in Cleanliness Standards Document. Hold all staff accountable for the cleanliness of their stations (both preventative and regular cleaning).

Create appropriate service ambience, with focus on music volume and choice, lighting levels, and ambient temperature.

Drive service, orchestrate the team, and be a strong presence on the floor.
Monitor consistency in service and food standards. Address concerns with Head Chef.

Address any guest concerns as they come up and decide on preventative or corrective action. Follow up with guests to ensure satisfaction. Ensure GM is made aware of any serious guest concerns as soon as possible.

Attend weekly Management Team meetings and monthly meeting with President. Schedule bi-weekly FOH and BOH Leadership team meetings.

Be constantly aware of sales targets and initiate techniques to reach our goals. Articulate to GM as to why they are not met.

Responsibility to maintain and check for product and menu consistency and quality. This includes conducting constant taste checks on each dish and their components. Ensure all standards of food quality are being met at all times.

Planning and developing a training program for FOH team in order to elevate service standards.
