Vij’s opened on West Broadway in September of 1994, with the premise that there is no such thing as a typical Indian curry. Meeru Dhalwala & Vikram Vij collaborated on the menu and the restaurant blossomed quickly; winning its first Best Asian Award restaurant in March 1995. They moved location to West 11th in September of 1996, beginning a wonderful 19-year tenure in the heart of South Granville. By 2015, it was time to further expand what Vij’s hospitality could mean to our guests – moving to the two-storey ‘Lantern’ building on Cambie Street in December that year. With the move, Vij’s now offers a broad range of dining and drinking experiences all in one place – with a larger dining room, seated cocktail lounge, seasonal rooftop patio and private dining rooms. The philosophy behind their food has remained the same: keep the spices and cooking techniques Indian – from all regions of India – while working with great local products that showcase the best of each season in our region. Diners are invited to indulge in beautiful, original creations that resonate with authentic Indian spice character and warmth.

Vij’s award-winning wine list is ever changing, to represent the best of British Columbia, as well as classic regions and delicious curiosities from around the world. Our service team is happy to provide guidance with selections that will pair with flavours and enhance your experiences. An inspired cocktail selection offers a Vij’s approach to drinking style, while our Bar team crafts unique creations as well as classic recipes to suit your desires. Our craft beer collection represents a range of refreshing tastes from the bounty of incredible local breweries. Begin your evening in Vij’s lounge with tableside drink service & complimentary Indian snacks. Our second floor is home to Vij’s Rooftop – a seasonal patio garden offering lighter fare and summery drinks. Adjacent to the Rooftop are our Private Dining rooms – available year-round for booking your special occasion.

Beyond the hospitality experience at our restaurants, Vij’s Inspired Indian Cuisine – our food line of packaged frozen and refrigerated read-to-eat Indian dishes – is created from new recipes and past favorites from Vij’s. The food line is available in many stores around Vancouver, as well as across Canada. Our cookbooks Vij’s: Elegant and Inspired Indian Cuisine, Vij’s at Home: Relax Honey and Vij’s Indian we created to tell stories of love & food, and inspire our guests to create Meeru & Vikram’s cuisine at home.
