About The Polygon Gallery

The Polygon Gallery is one of Canada’s most acclaimed photography and media art galleries. Operating as Presentation House Gallery for forty years, the organization presented more than 300 exhibitions, earning a reputation as one of Canada’s most adventurous public art institutions. Some of the most important local and international artists have been featured—from acclaimed Vancouver photographers Stan Douglas and Fred Herzog to world-renowned artists Ansel Adams and Andy Warhol—as well as the work of Lower Mainland students participating in innovative and immersive education programs.

In its new home, The Polygon Gallery will expand on the organization’s long history of presenting the work of artists who respond to transformations taking place in the world. Recent exhibitions feature contemporary and historical photography, new media art, and multi-media installations. Drop-in tours are offered on a weekly basis which offer unique insights into the works on view and provide an opportunity for discussion and shared observation.

Situated in the heart of Lower Lonsdale, surrounded by cafes, public walkways and unique shopping experiences, The Polygon offers exciting new exhibitions and breathtaking waterfront views. The Polygon Gallery building is intended as a home for art and an incubator for new ideas, as well as an architectural contribution to Vancouver’s North Shore, designed by Governor General’s Award-winning firm, Patkau Architects.

The Polygon Shop offers a carefully selected range products informed by the photographic sphere, as well as artist editions, design-focused homeware, jewelry, and gifts for all ages. Products are crafted by individual makers and collectives local to Vancouver and the North Shore, and sit alongside established international brands. The Bookstore showcases international photobooks, magazines and postcards, by publishers such as Aperture, Mack Books and the Archive of Modern Conflict, alongside its own publications. All purchases made in The Polygon Shop and Bookstore support the Gallery’s exhibitions and education programs.

Admission to the gallery is always by donation, courtesy of BMO Financial Group.
