Launched in Vancouver’s Railtown Design District in 2017, St. Lawrence is an exciting restaurant concept that offers a marriage of classic French cuisine and the gastronomic identity and culture of Les Québécois. St. Lawrence is a passion project for acclaimed Chef/Owner and 2019 Vancouver Magazine Chef of the Year Award winner Jean-Christophe (J-C) Poirier, who brings his razor-sharp focus and dedication to craft and time-honoured traditions to an elevated-yet-approachable enclave where food, drink and ambiance combine for a transportive dining adventure unlike any other. Since opening, St. Lawrence has been singled out as Best New Restaurant at the 2018 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards; No. 4 on enRoute Magazine’s 2018 compilation of Canada’s Best New Restaurants; No. 2 on the prestigious annual ranking of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants 2020; and consecutive awards as Vancouver Magazine’s 2018 and ’19 Restaurant of the Year. It claimed the honour again in 2022, and was also awarded a Michelin star in the inaugural Michelin Guide Vancouver.

Awards & Accolades

1 Star – Michelin Guide (2022)

“A hit ever since opening, this charming Québécois bistro shares a true sense of place—it’s even named for the region’s mighty river. Sit close enough to Chef/owner Jean-Christophe Poirier’s kitchen to experience the heady aromas of his rustic and hearty French-Canadian cooking.” – Michelin Guide, 2022

No. 2 – Canada’s 100 Best (2020)

“Poirier … has seduced Vancouver diners away from their puritanical tendencies with buttery pastries, richly reduced sauces and majestic pâté en croûte.” – Canada’s 100 Best, 2020

Restaurant of the Year – Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards (2022)

“…the result is an operation at the top of its game, such that scoring a ticket feels like a small triumph, more akin to seeing your favourite band live than something so pedestrian as ‘going out for dinner.’” – Vancouver Magazine, 2022

Best French, Gold – Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards (2023)

“Michelin-starred St. Lawrence takes home gold for the third time in this category, serving up chef J.C. Poirier’s rustic yet refined ode to Quebecois cuisine. ‘St. Lawrence is simply irresistible,’ raved one judge. ‘Highly inventive, full-flavoured and unapologetically decadent.’” – Vancouver Magazine, 2023
