Railtown Cafe is currently hiring the following full-time positions for its new Granville Street location:

Sous Chef
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will be responsible for day-to-day kitchen operations at the new Granville Street cafe. He/she will work closely with colleagues to ensure high-quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation; oversee accurate ordering; train and educate colleagues on culinary techniques; maintain staff levels through proactive recruiting and mentorship; monitor performance levels of all team members and maintain departmental standards as determined by the Executive Chef; and ensure all health and safety standards are met. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player with a minimum of four years cooking experience and a proven ability to solve problems, oversee administrative activities and manage multiple functions and projects while meeting deadlines and fostering an environment of employee growth and development.

Chef de Partie
Reporting to the Sous Chef, this individual will be responsible for small-scale production at the new Granville Street cafe and will help oversee a small team who will also be in charge opening and/or closing the facility. We are seeking a motivated, positive induvial who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and who demonstrates a can-do attitude, strong work ethic and high-standards for quality and cleanliness.

Line Cooks
Reporting to the Cafe Sous Chef, this position is responsible for sandwich prep (40%) and order fulfillment during lunch service (40%), as well as station cleanliness (20%). We’re seeking a highly organized, motivated and upbeat team player with at least two years of experience in a fast-paced food service establishment. Customer service experience is considered an asset. Competitive hourly wage based on experience.

Production Cooks
Reporting to the Sous Chef, this individual is responsible for prep (70%), organization and cleanliness (20%) and cafe line support (10%). We’re seeking a highly organized, motivated and upbeat team player with two years’ experience in a fast-paced food service establishment. Customer service experience is considered an asset. Hours are between 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Competitive hourly wage based on experience.

Cafe Manager
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to lead a team of professional staff at our new Granville Street location. This individual should possess extensive business knowledge and have prior experience in food, beverage and retail service. Key responsibilities include hiring, training, managing, scheduling and overseeing all cafe staff; serving as the lead customer service contact; developing and implementing cafe policies and procedures; managing vendors, inventory and labour costs; and filling in for day-to-day cafe tasks as needed.

Barista/Servers
We are looking for hard-working, motivated and upbeat individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Cafe Manager, Barista/Servers will be responsible for opening and closing the cafe, interacting with and serving customers, creating handcrafted espresso beverages and cocktails, completing transactions using our custom POS, maintaining store cleanliness and restocking throughout the day. Full-time applicants must have previous food and beverage experience and be available to work an average of 25-35 hours per week. Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
