Vancouver, BC | It’s time for The Cinematheque’s annual summer celebration of the giddy, gloomy, seductive glories of Film Noir! Celebrating one of Golden-Age Hollywood’s richest and most creative periods, Film Noir picks up the shiny rock of the American Dream, turns it over, and finds underneath a grubby American nightmare. The 2016 Noir season includes nine vintage gems, plus two sensational sidebars.

Don’t miss the opening night: Broads and Bruisers Courtyard Wingding | Thursday August 4 | Doors at 6:00pm. Enjoy vinyl jazz from DJs Cam Dales and Scott W., complimentary Whiskey Hazelnut Earnest Ice Cream, cash bar, and screenings of The Killers (7:00pm) and Kiss of Death (9:05pm). The Cinematheque is a charitable cultural organization that brings the Essential Cinema Experience to Vancouver audiences. Home to one of the largest and most extensive programs of curated films in North America, The Cinematheque presents over 500 screenings annually including retrospectives of great directors’ works, new features from Canada’s hottest young filmmakers, prestigious internationally touring exhibitions, plus guest appearances, lectures, special receptions, and much more.

The Cinematheque is also home to the West Coast Film Archive, a collection which holds 2000+ works on 16mm and 35mm film, the Film Reference Library, and an award-winning Education Department that works with youth, educators, and the community-at-large year-round to provide digitial filmmaking programs, critical media literacy workshops, and educational film screenings.
