Sai Woo & Underground “Woo Bar” Set To Get Spooky Over Halloween Weekend

the GOODs from Sai Woo

Vancouver, BC | When the witching hour descends on Vancouver’s Chinatown, ghoulish guests are invited to join Sai Woo in the downstairs Woo Bar for haunted Halloween parties on Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st.

Sai Woo first opened its doors as the original Sai Woo Chop Suey back in 1925 when it was a popular neighbourhood hangout. Today, nine decades of history haunt its halls, echoing stories of the past. One such story still lingers to this day…

True story: the third owner of the restaurant met his tragic end here, collapsing suddenly in the basement one fateful evening, and some claim he never left. His ghost is said to roam the building to keep his memory and the stories of yesteryear alive.

Join the Sai Woo spirits this Hallow’s Eve in the Woo Bar, where from dusk until the strike of midnight (7pm – 12am) guests are invited to take part in this haunting evening. Miss DJ will be spinning throughout the night to set the mood, while a Ouija board offers attendees the chance to speak with the spirits of the afterlife. Ask this supernatural spirit board your deepest questions – if you dare!

Plus the Woo Bar’s signature cocktails and dangerously delicious food menu will be available all night long to tantalize taste buds. Always using the freshest, local ingredients and finest liquors, all dishes and drinks showcase the signature style and innovative culinary flare that Sai Woo has become known for.

To finish the evening, the most devilishly dressed guest will be selected to win a Dinner For Two at Sai Woo, plus a private Ouija board session in the lounge. All haunted creatures are welcome – no tickets needed.

ABOUT SAI WOO

In the heart of Chinatown an historic storefront conceals the secrets of Sai Woo. Our modern dining room serves globally-inspired cuisine created with fresh ingredients and surprising, lighthearted twists. Cocktails are crafted with precision using top-shelf liquors, fine teas, and exotic fruits. The original Sai Woo Chop Suey first opened its doors in 1925 and flourished as a local hangout for decades, preserving some of Vancouver’s oldest history. Our location is also remembered as the popular New Town Bakery but today, Sai Woo brings new life to this historical landmark with a modern and innovative menu.

We offer a 113-seat main floor dining area, bar, and Chef’s Table with a 75-seat lower lounge and bar, designed by the masterminds at Falken Reynolds along with Anna Walentowicz at Domain Creative. Restaurateur and owner Salli Pateman, formerly of Yaletown’s Section (3) of 18 years, has immeasurable industry experience with a solid team of expertise at her side. Award-winning bartender David Truscott oversees the bar, Shilo Francis and Tracey Page manage the front-of-house and Chef Keev Mah leads the kitchen.
