Local artist Marcus Bowcott’s work Trans-Am Totem has been up for almost a year now at the eastern end of False Creek by the intersection of Quebec Street and Pacific Boulevard. The towering statement on the area’s accelerating development is cool in and of itself, but it also lends itself to an illusion near the eastern apex of the Dunsmuir Viaduct’s pedestrian sidewalk.
If you look to the south from the right spot, only the top car of the installation (its namesake white Trans-Am) is visible, and it appears in perfect miniature like a toy Hot Wheels car driving on the edge of the neighbouring Georgia Viaduct, as seen above.
