1000 Cool Things About Vancouver is a pretty self-explanatory Scout column that gives equal weight to the common attributes and obscure intangibles that make our city well worth living in. Getting to a thousand is a pretty ambitious goal, but we believe in our city and are already well on our way.

The answer, of course, is Brewery & The Beast. The one-day meat and beer festival – now in its fifth year in Vancouver (it also goes down in Victoria and Calgary) – has the power to make mouths water from great distances. Taking place in the open air this Sunday (July 29) at Concord Pacific Place, the popular event (long sold out) sees dozens of meat-loving chefs from Vancouver’s best restaurants cranking out carnivorous deliciousness in a collegial, beer-soaked atmosphere.
