Adorably Tiny Grilled Cheese Shop “Hi-Five” Set For Launch In Gastown Tonight

This nice fellow, Corben Winfield, is opening a grilled cheese sandwich specialty shop called Hi-Five in Gastown tonight. Winfield, who is one of the partners at Six Acres on Carrall Street, took possession of the small spot in November. How small is it? 100 sqft – it used to be the landlord’s storage locker!

It’s a little tricky to find because it’s more of a window than a fixed address. “22 East Cordova” doesn’t really reflect its actual location, but if you walk a few dozen paces east of Carrall on the south side of Cordova and use your nose to guide you, you’ll probably find it. And so you should, because it sounds pretty awesome.

Hi-Five will offer five types of grilled cheese sandwiches on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 8pm until 2am. The costs per sandwich range from a $3 triangular toastie to a $6 “Melter Skelter” that includes pepperjack, jalapenos, cilantro, and BBQ chips. Bacon is extra, as are dill pickles and sides of tomato soup. Winfield hopes to open during lunch hours at some point this spring.

It’s a pretty cool little set up that allows for up to 10 sandwiches to be grilled at once, so expect the queue – if one should materialize – to move fast. Check it over the weekend and enjoy!
