West Kelowna, BC | Quails’ Gate Winery is proud to announce their 2017 Stewart Family Reserve Chardonnay has been awarded Platinum in the Chardonnay category at the 2019 WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada held in Prince Edward County June 10 through 14, 2019.
Receiving 1,185 entries from 259 wineries in six provinces, the National Wine Awards of Canada panel of 21 judges awarded 88 medals in the Chardonnay category.
Tony Stewart, CEO of Quails’ Gate Winery, states “We are thrilled to receive this recognition for our Chardonnay, particularly as the Canadian wine industry develops and excels in cool climate winemaking. It confirms our commitment to focus on producing the highest quality Chardonnay and drives our pursuit of innovation in our vineyards.”
Quails’ Gate produces three Chardonnays: the Quails’ Gate estate series available in BCLDB stores and across Canada, a Stewart Family Reserve and the Rosemary’s Block collector series. The latter are available through the winery directly, at the wine shop and online. Additional awards and accolades are listed on the company website.
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine are grown in two premium blocks on the volcanic slopes of the Quails’ Gate Boucherie Mountain Vineyard in West Kelowna. This Chardonnay is 100% fermented in new and older French oak barrels, with bâtonnage and full malolactic fermentation.
