The GOODS from Ocean Wise

Vancouver, BC | The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and on June 23 it will host its signature annual gala, Night at the Aquarium, and dazzle guests like never before. This year also marks 10 years since the gala was first held, an exciting milestone for the philanthropic event that directly supports the Aquarium’s conservation, research and education programs.

The galleries will become an enchanting underwater world where guests can learn about marine conservation as they marvel at the stunning colours in the Tropics or watch the beluga whales glide by. For the first time ever, Night at the Aquarium will delight guests with a multi-chef six-course, seated dinner. Delectable Ocean Wise® dishes will be prepared by some of Vancouver’s premier chefs from restaurants including Blue Water Café, YEW seafood + bar and Forage. The mouthwatering selection of beverages will include luscious wines, thirst-quenching beer from Red Truck brewery and caesars from Ocean Wise partner Walter Caesar.

Gala attendees will also enjoy dynamic live entertainment that will get everyone on their feet. The live auction is also sure to excite, with fantastic prizes including a seven night cruise to Baja, courtesy of Un-Cruise Adventures, that includes the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go snorkelling with sea lion pups or whale watching for whale sharks. Nature lovers can also turn their bids to a prize that includes two weeks of accommodation in Costa Rica, courtesy of Lloyds Travel and National Geographic, with an inside look at sea turtle rescues in the area. For those looking to venture to cooler climates, there is also a 10-day voyage to the stunning region of Canada’s Arctic, courtesy of One Ocean. The bidding won’t stop at the live auction, with an impressive silent auction throughout the night that is not to be missed.

In 2015, Night at the Aquarium raised more than $360,000, which directly supported the Aquarium’s many conservation programs, including Ocean Wise, Coastal Ocean Research Institute and the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, the only one of its kind in Canada.
