The GOODS from Bistro Wagon Rouge

Vancouver, BC | Already have dinner plans for Monday, October 3? Put them on hold and get yourself to ‘Block Party’ scheduled to go down at Bistro Wagon Rouge at 7:30pm. East Van chefs from Bistro Wagon Rouge, Campagnolo ROMA, Houndstooth, Merchant’s Oyster Bar and The Red Wagon are collaborating with their neighbours The Pie Shoppe, Coal Harbour Brewing, Doan’s Craft Brewing, Powell Street Craft Brewery and Odd Society Spirits in support of Backpack Buddies, a charity dedicated to filling the weekend hunger gap for children in food insecure households in Metro Vancouver. The dinner features a six-course menu including an oyster amuse-bouche; root vegetable, pistachio and apple salad; mackerel; gnocchi with foraged finds; beef tartare; cold smoked lingcod and a pumpkin tart from the Pie Shoppe to finish.

With only 35 seats available and word-of-mouth sales well underway, we predict this fun evening of eating, drinking and giving-back will sell out quickly. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased by calling 604 251 4070 or writing bistrowagonrouge [at] gmail.com.

    About Bistro Wagon Rouge

    BWR_ClaudetteCarracedo-004

Bistro Wagon Rouge (sister restaurant to The Red Wagon) is a ‘plaid’ collar French bistro located in the heart of Vancouver’s old port district. With playlists compiled by their friends at Red Cat and Zulu, an ever-changing “classics” menu and plenty of features to select from, the vibe at Bistro Wagon Rouge is always fresh. Their menu evolves daily but you can expect to find greatest hits like cassoulet, pâté, duck confit, pork belly, French onion soup and steak frites. They always have fish, veggies and plenty of meat on the menu. Gather around a table with friends for dinner, or pull up a stool for a glass of wine and a small bite at the bar. Bistro Wagon Rouge does not accept reservations; it’s first come, first served. If there happens to be a line, don’t fret — as they are located in one of the emerging craft brewery and distillery communities of East Vancouver, you can grab a beer or a cocktail at one of the neighbouring tasting rooms while you wait. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday from 5PM – 10PM.
