Toptable is a rapidly growing hospitality company with a current portfolio of 7 restaurants and 1 patisserie, with new restaurants opening this year both locally and the US.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Position: Manager, People (Toptable Group)
Currently Reports To: Vice President, Finance

As the main point of contact, this exciting and challenging career opportunity will allow you to develop your HR competencies with a growing brand and drive best in class people strategies. Reporting to the VP, Finance and partnering with a team of talented professionals, this key HR role will work closely with operations within various premium restaurants performing a wide variety of human resource functions, both operational and strategic, to attract, develop, and retain an engaged, people-oriented, and high performing workforce.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned as required)

– Acts as the key HR contact to managers on all People related issues
– In collaboration with leadership and other operational managers, develops and maintains standard HR programs for the Toptable group of restaurants
– Leads recruitment initiatives by proactively developing and executing new and innovative candidate attraction strategies and opportunities to attract high caliber staff, including the use of social media and other current attraction trends
– Builds and maintains an appropriate network of recruitment and community partners
– Drafts job descriptions and employment agreements
– Handles all processes to acquire temporary foreign workers and to facilitate the immigration process for hires relocating to Canada or the US
– Develops and continually enhances the hiring and onboarding program to give all new recruits a best in class new hire experience
– Proactively researches, develops and implements retention strategies that focus on a service-oriented workforce
– Suggests and develops innovative and progressive ideas to support overall employee satisfaction
– Leads employee recognition and engagement plans across all restaurants
– Leads the enhancement and continued growth of employee communication opportunities
– Provides supervisors and managers with guidance on handling performance related issues that arise

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

– Experience with innovative staff recruitment and retention strategies
– Diploma/degree in HR Management along with a minimum of 5 years’ progressive generalist experience
– Experience in a hospitality environment would be a strong asset
– Experience with the immigration process and recruitment of foreign workers is an asset
– A positive team player with high energy and a strong client service focus
– Motivated by a flexible, changing environment and willing to shift priorities, quickly
– A thoughtful and collaborative problem solver, with a problem-solving approach that is practical and client-centered
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with diverse client groups
– A self-starter who puts thought, creativity, and ingenuity into work assignments
– Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, objectivity, confidentiality, and good judgment when handling HR related issues
– Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects
– Computer-literate, with a strong working knowledge of Windows-based software applications
– Must be flexible and adaptable to work evening, weekends and holidays
– Travel, locally and to Toptable locations in other Canadian and US cities, will be required
