Two Documentaries by Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers Screening Friday at The Cinematheque

The GOODS from The Cinematheque

Vancouver, BC | To mark the 2019 edition of National Indigenous Peoples Day this Friday, The Cinematheque is delighted to showcase two exceptional documentaries by Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, an award-winning, Vancouver-based filmmaker/actor of Blackfoot and Sámi heritage.

c̓əsnaʔəm the city before the city was a multi-site museum exhibition opened in 2015 at the Musqueam Cultural Centre, the UBC Museum of Anthropology, and the Museum of Vancouver. Tailfeathers’s attending film, c̓əsnaʔəm: the city before the city (2017) was released two years later, and deftly deepens the impact of that groundbreaking show — which, for many non-Indigenous visitors, shed light on the underknown pre-colonized past of Greater Vancouver.

The screening will include a video introduction by Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, and c̓əsnaʔəm will be preceded by her award-winning short, Bihttoš (Rebel) (2014).

c̓əsnaʔəm + Bihttoš (Rebel)
Friday, June 21 – 7:00pm at The Cinematheque, 1131 Howe Street
