Restaurant veteran Brad Miller, who cut his teeth at Au Petit Chavignol, West and Bistro Pastis, is on the verge of going solo with The Red Wagon, a new 35 seat diner serving breakfast and lunch (and possibly dinner) in the old King’s Cafe location at 2296 East Hastings (at Nanaimo). It will be, as he describes it, “a joint”. Full stop. I take that as meaning super casual. As for the food, he says we can expect “down home cooking”: sandwiches, good burgers, salads and such – stuff that is “approachable and reflective of the neighbourhood.” Opening day is slated for later in October.
This place seems like it’s going to be great!
Does anyone know if he’s done the hiring for it yet? I’d love to work there!!!
this is going to be my next breakfast hangout. will try to bring all my hooooomies.
It’s been a couple months since King’s shut her drafty door, so I hope this place can pick up the slack. I tried the Templeton down the street, but I’ll ne’er go back: small portions; steep prices (in *this* economy, on *my* fixed income?!); phonies with their fancy haircuts and devil-may-care slouching. Will there be a $2.85 breakfast special???
Damn slouchers and their damn fancy haircuts. They really do ruin everything, don’t they.
The king of breakfast has returned!!!
Nothing ruins breakfast more than fancy haircuts and devil-may-care slouching! I hate that shit!
Had lunch here today the soup was great very inportant. To me I love soup and the rubin Was good to great litte place hope they do dinner soon
Good luck
