A Local Abundance Of Wild, Delicious Shrooms

By several strokes of geographic circumstance Vancouver has lucked out on the edible mushroom foraging front. At this time of year (and Spring, too), any shroom lover with a knife, a bucket, some knowledge, and a good pair of boots can go hunting for wild mushrooms within minutes of the city’s snare. Whether you’re on your own or with a crew of dedicated foragers, mushroom season is an open invitation to get outdoors and explore with delicious purpose. Good spots abound, but finding them is up to you. Be sure to do your research on what to look for, when to look, and especially what to avoid. And if you’re foraging for the first time, be sure to go with an experienced friend or two. These photos were taken last year while on a hunt with the crew from The Acorn
