With our city now so laughably unaffordable, thousands of Vancouverites are stuck imagining wonderful homes instead of living in them. “Spaced” is a record of our minds wandering the world of architecture and design, up and away from the unrewarding realities of shoebox condos, dark basement suites, and sweet fuck all on Craigslist.

(via) This 2014 top-down renovation of a 4,500 sqft holiday home near Cha-am beach in Thailand flirts hard with the values of freedom and playfulness. These complimentary themes were top of the fold in the family of six’ brief to Onion, the Bangkok-based design shop responsible for the home’s amazing network of nets, ladders, tunnels and mirrors. It reminds me of my crazy preschool in Kitsilano back in the 1970s, which until my late teens I was convinced was the home of Dr. Seuss. For that reason I’m imagining living/playing in something similar on 2nd Avenue close to Yew Street, where rainy days could be forgotten while running, climbing and bouncing amok.

“I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny.”
