Often Weird But Always Delicious Waffles At Kingsway’s ‘Off The Grid’

1T8A7708

by Marshall To | Located on Kingsway across from Norquay Park between Nanaimo and Rupert streets is Off The Grid Waffles, a small, smartly designed spot serving up a bewildering array of homemade sweet and savoury waffles. From strawberry, chocolate, cheesecake, and s’mores to pepperoni, smoked salmon, and ham & pineapple, the playful options cater to just about every mood and taste.

This stretch of Kingsway has changed a lot in recent years with many newcomers and new developments. Off The Grid has been in the thick of it, located as it is at the foot of one of the 2600 block’s new buildings. It’s good looking, quick and easy, and there are four waffle irons firing hot at the same time. Nothing on the menu is over $8 dollars, which much account in part for its increasing popularity.

For the sweet-tooths out there, go for the cheesecake option (so delicious). And if you lean toward savoury waffles, never doubt the daily special, even the cheeseburger! Bonus: as much Jenga as you can handle.
