Vancouver, BC | Father-son duo Chefs Nacho and Poncho Cadena of Puerto Vallarta’s highly acclaimed La Leche restaurant have joined forces with Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio’s Chef Ricardo Valverde to craft a six-course, Peru-meets-Mexico feast during the 2016 Dine Out Vancouver Festival.

On January 20, guests are invited to gather at Ancora’s scenic waterfront location for the one-night-only, Latin America-inspired dinner as part of Dine Out’s World Chef Exchange event series. The Cadena family – whose restaurant has pioneered irreverent, unexpected cuisine in Mexico, and is touted as a culinary revelation – will present two courses, then Ricardo – whose Peruvian background influences the unexpected, out-of-the-box flavour combinations he has become known for – will respond with two of his own. For the fifth course, the three chefs will unveil a collaborative entrée guaranteed to stun every taste bud in the room. Diners will end the night on a sweet note with a decadent dessert. Each course will be paired with local wines carefully selected by General Manager and Sommelier Andrea Vescovi, all intended to bring out the distinctive flavour profiles inherent in Peruvian, Mexican and West Coast ingredients.

“I’m really excited to share my ideas with the Cadena family, and to build on each other’s experiences and palates,” said Chef Ricardo Valverde. “La Leche is one of Mexico’s most celebrated restaurants, and the ingredients and techniques used in that region are highly complementary to those of my home country, Peru. This is a dream collaboration, a night not to be missed.”

“The entire Ancora team is excited to welcome Chefs Nacho and Poncho to our restaurant and taste the dishes they dream up with Ricardo using our regional ingredients,” said Andrea Vescovi, general manager. “It’s a powerhouse team representing two extremely flavourful and dynamic cuisines, and we’ve tasted countless local wines before selecting those that best complement each course.”

The communal-style dinner features tables for eight to 12 people with a maximum of 70 seats available – so book your tickets fast, because this palate-sparkling fusion of flavours is sure to sell out. Each ticket costs $185, and includes all food and wine pairings. Upon arrival, guests will have the opportunity to mix and mingle in the restaurant’s sleek space during a 6:00pm reception before adjourning to dinner at 6:30pm. To claim your seats, click here. And if you miss out, not to worry – Ancora will also offer a set menu for the duration of Dine Out Vancouver Festival (January 15 – 31) at the $40 price point.
