The GOODS from The Cinematheque

Vancouver, BC | The Cinematheque presents This is Going to Hurt: A Cinema of Cruelty; 13 masterworks of cruel cinema that screen September 8-26. This series recognises the continued significance of cinematic cruelty as a vital, if challenging, mode of film expression. So get ready for the feel-bad event of the year!

Screenings include work from prestigious troublemakers and arthouse giants such as Stanley Kubrick (A Clockwork Orange), Lars von Trier (Breaking the Waves), David Lynch (Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me), Pier Paolo Pasolini (Salò), and Catherine Breillat (Fat Girl).

The series opens with a surrealist monochrome bang on Thursday, September 8 (6:00pm), screening Luis Buñuel’s Un Chien Andalou & Alfred Hitchock’s Psycho, with refreshments and a special introduction. Get screening times and tickets here.

About The Cinematheque

The Cinematheque is a charitable cultural organization that brings the Essential Cinema Experience to Vancouver audiences.
