FROM THE COLLECTION // An Inspiring DIY Guide from The Regional Assembly of Text’s Library

“herbal first aid (assembling a natural first aid kit)”, by Raleigh Briggs. Published by Microcosm Publishing.

FROM THE COLLECTION aims to introduce readers to the inventories of local art galleries, museums and other cultural institutions, not via official exhibition notes but by way of the people that help manage and maintain the collections themselves.

“This past year has the pessimist in me wondering ‘what’s next?’ and my DIY tendencies are drawn to the thought that the natural world is not only integral to our mental health, but also our physical well-being.”

In this edition of From the Collection, Brandy Fedoruk, co-owner of The Regional Assembly of Text (home to ‘the lowercase reading room’), tells us about the handy little publication that’s currently piqued his interest…

“‘the lowercase reading room’ houses our collection of thousands of self published artist books, zines and chapbooks, making it a near impossible task to select just one. Therefore, ‘herbal first aid’ by Raleigh Briggs, an instructional guide to assembling your own natural first aid kit, is my current favourite publication from our newest acquisitions. This past year has the pessimist in me wondering ‘what’s next?’ and my DIY tendencies are drawn to the thought that the natural world is not only integral to our mental health, but also our physical well-being. Who knew blackberry leaf tea was good for the runs?”
