Vancouver Would Be Cooler If It Had A Lot More Fun That Was Rain-Activated

(via) When StatsCan released its silly “satisfaction report” earlier this month and found ours to be the most bummed out city in Canada, you have to think that they did their survey in the midst of one Vancouver’s depressing multi-day pourathons.

Our collective dejection might be assuaged if we lightened things up a little. City Hall and the Board of Parks & Recreation spend millions of tax dollars on civic entertainments that more or less require dry weather, and next to nothing at all on fun that is 100% rain-dependent.

Our equally wet neighbours in Seattle can claim a cool start-up called Rainworks. Why can’t we? They use stencils and water-repellent sprays that are eco-friendly. They biodegrade as the designs eventually dissolve, so it’s right up Moonbeam‘s alley.

Someone in town already knows how to do it, but it would be great if they did it a lot more. Half a smile is sometimes all it takes to lift a soaked spirit.

Vancouver (and the World) Would be Cooler If Our Housing Crisis Was Solved Via Video Games

Vancouver Would Be Cooler If We Had More Safe Indoor Spaces for Skateboarding

Its vaulted ceilings may have once carried the tenors and altos of Catholic choirboys, but nowadays the acoustics of the abandoned St. Liborius Church have been repurposed to carry the screeches and echoes characteristic of a DIY Skatepark. We think Vancouver would be cooler if we had an all-inclusive indoor community skatepark of our own...

Vancouver Would Be Cooler If It Had a Massive Floating Housing Project at the Port

Imagine a colourful, mixed-used, housing complex like Amsterdam's Silodam floating at the foot of Victoria Drive.
