Yet another opening on the horizon, this time on the southern end of the Granville Entertainment District, right next door to Red Squared in the space formerly occupied by ABC International Travel. Brothers Hesam and Shahab Ghaemi (ex-Crime Lab, Century Restaurant & Bar) have picked up the 1224 Granville St. location with the goal of opening a new burger and beer joint called “Stackhouse” by early January. On the food front, I’m told to anticipate a few sides and salads fronting three sliders and ten burger variations, plus deep fried ice cream and doughnut closers. Craig Stanghetta is in charge of the aesthetics, which should prove interesting. Stanghetta designed the recently unleashed Meat & Bread at Cambie & Hastings, created the driftwood sculpture that hangs in L’Abattoir’s lovely atrium, and was instrumental in shepherding the look at Chinatown’s celebrated Bao Bei. Expect 50 seats, including 10 at the bar.
Andrew,
I don’t see any mention of the Architect involved in this project, I think giving proper credit where it is due, is always a good idea.

Vancouver: a city where people care more about the architect who planned a restaurant rather than the food served there.

Well George. Until they serve food it’s all we can talk about.
Nice facade for a burger joint.
I don’t believe it is about architecture vs. food but rather the accuracy of information presented, something perhaps that doesn’t mean much to you, however I find information more useful if correct.

Stackhouse dry runs have begun….Anticipated opening is Feb 14th or 15th!!!
Menu is incredible. Design is slick and minimalisitic ( think Meat and Bread – same designer )
There will be MANY bourbons and delicious cocktails. Russell ESB and Blonde on tap with a decent bottle selection.
Open for lunch at 11am til Midnight.
