Miku Restaurant Celebrates Milestone with Special Premium Aburi Oshi Trio

The Goods from Miku Restaurant

Vancouver, BC | Since 2008, Miku has been Vancouver’s destination for contemporary Japanese cuisine, known for pioneering its signature Aburi Oshi Sushi. This October, the waterfront restaurant is set to reach a major milestone – serving its one-millionth order of this popular dish. To celebrate, from September 28 to October 13, 2024, guests can enjoy the limited-edition Premium Aburi Oshi Trio. The lucky guest who orders the one-millionth plate will be gifted a round-trip to Toronto, including dinner at Miku’s sister restaurant, the MICHELIN-starred Aburi Hana.

Miku’s renowned Aburi Oshi Sushi is pressed into a rectangular shape, paired with a delectable sauce, then flame-seared with Japanese binchotan charcoal. Miku’s classic three flavours are BC sockeye salmon, ebi (shrimp), and saba (mackerel).

“When we first opened Miku in our original location, it took time for guests to embrace our Aburi Oshi Sushi as it was something new and innovative, but once they did, they became loyal guests,” says Seigo Nakamura, founder and CEO of Aburi Restaurants Canada. “Reaching one million orders in 16 years is an incredible milestone, one I am very thankful for. We look forward to continuing to share our passion for Aburi with each plate we serve.”

The limited edition Premium Aburi Oshi Trio ($18), created by head sushi chef Sangwoo Kim and sous chef Sean Cho, will be available from September 28 to October 13, 2024 and features three exclusive flavours: Salmon Oshi Sushi with truffle Miku sauce, botan ebi, and caviar; A5 Iwate Wagyu Oshi Sushi with egg yolk vinaigrette; and Japanese Unagi Oshi Sushi with pickled mustard seed.

To celebrate, the guest who places the one-millionth Aburi Oshi Sushi order by ordering the Premium Aburi Oshi Trio will be awarded a luxury gift pack, featuring: a round-trip to Toronto for two, where they’ll enjoy a special dinner at Aburi Hana, Miku’s one Michelin-starred sister restaurant.

“We wanted to mark this milestone in a way that reflects the joy and excitement our Aburi Oshi Sushi has brought to so many over the years,” adds Nakamura. “The new Premium Aburi Oshi Trio showcases new Oshi Sushi flavours, while the contest is a great way to give back to our guests who have supported us from the beginning. We’re celebrating one million orders, and creating a memorable experience for the guest who helps us reach that big moment.”
