Argo, The | Cafe, Institution | The Argo is a small cafe/diner hidden away at the foot of the Mt. Pleasant slope just a few blocks south of False Creek and Olympic Village (1836 Ontario St. to be exact). Originally launched in 1954, the restaurant has been owned and operated since 2004 by chef Denis Larouche and his brother in-law, Kirby Wong. Famed for its diverse menu that ranges in milieu from Chinese-Canadian mainstays and mangiacake Italian to clubhouse sandwiches and prawn masala stir-fries, it is a one-of-a-kind institution that well worth visiting. Bonus: the new Faculty Brewing is right next door.
