The GOODS from Campagnolo

Vancouver, BC | ‘Upstairs’ at Campagnolo, a speakeasy style sanctuary for discerning wine, beer and spirit drinkers is partnering with Charton Hobbs to present “Bourbon Sow”, a bourbon paired pig dinner to be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. This colossal feast will be served family style at communal tables and promises to enhance the distinctive characteristics of bourbon. Tickets are priced at $69 and include whiskeys from W.L. Weller and Buffalo Trace plus a cocktail creation from barman Peter Van de Reep.

Van de Reep is a well-known whiskey advocate curating a selection of rare Kentucky Bourbons and American Ryes for the ‘Upstairs’ back bar. In addition to the three pours accompanying supper, guests will have access to these hard to find bottles before, during and after dinner for an additional cost.

“As a lover of American whiskey, I am thrilled to present two bourbons steeped in history but diverse in method and flavour,” says Upstairs at Campagnolo Bar Manager, Peter Van de Reep. “The wheated W.L. Weller 12 Year is one of the finest whiskeys available at its price and Buffalo Trace is easily my favourite everyday drinking whiskey.”

Chefs Nathan Lowey and Robert Belcham have sourced three varieties of ethically raised pigs for this exclusive Southern style dinner. Spotted and Mangalista pigs from North Thompson Heritage Farm and Berkshire from Sloping Hill Farm will be celebrated throughout the menu. Slow smoked pulled pork shoulder and a full “Big Boy” rack will be carved and served table side. A few other tasty highlights include: belly jerky; cracklin; fried okra complemented by hot sauce made from fermented fresno peppers; pimento cheese; potted pig’s liver pâte; and chocolate cake iced with an aged butter and burnt caramel buttercream.
