The GOODS from Much & Little

Vancouver, BC | Much & Little, a much loved Mt. Pleasant gift shop featuring well made goods with a story, has expanded, adding a multi-brand clothing shop featuring a growing collection of women’s apparel. Owner Sarah Savoy, an interior designer turned artisan talent chaser, opened her gift and home goods shop in 2011. She leapt at the opportunity to delve into fashion, her secondary fixation, when the retail space next to Much and Little became available early last year.

Staying true to her original vision of focusing on well-made products with a story, Savoy handpicked each emergent designer with an eye on aesthetics and function, and attention to detail and craft. Where was it made, how and by whom? Her buying for the clothing boutique has focused on local and independent designers, and primarily on lines produced in North America.

Labels you will find here include Women Wear Daily’s “designer to watch” Lauren Moffatt from New York, and Feral Childe, eco conscious creator of the ultimate compact wardrobe. And minimalist but edgy silhouette driven label Black Crane from San Francisco. Says Savoy “ Once word got out that we were going to carry Black Crane, and our phone started ringing with specific style requests even before the clothing actually hit the store.” Much & Little carries The Sleep Shirt, a Vancouver startup label of modern sleepwear making an international impact. Also carried are: Nikki Chasin, Atelier Delphine, Nuthatch, and local up and coming designer Hanna Dorothy.

Savoy buys instinctively. The tightly edited collections bought for the shop reflect Savoy’s own much admired personal style, classic and timeless with a bit of quirkiness. Her quest is to find clothes her clients will fall in love with. The aesthetic is casual but sophisticated, aiming to meet the demands of West Coast Women for clothes that are relaxed, effortless and cool. Despite the expert craftsmanship and high quality materials, prices are palatable. They range from $95 to around $450, or slightly higher for investment pieces like a good coat.

The clothing shop has a unique character and unpretentious ambiance that compliments the independent spirit of Main Street and has attracted a growing loyal clientele positioning Much & Little as a must shopping spot.

Much&Little opened its doors in October 2011. It grew from a desire to create a personal shopping experience that offers timeless, beautiful, well-made goods for everyday use. Each item has been hand picked not just for aesthetics and function, but also for the story behind it that creates lasting value. Where was it made, how and by whom? As much as possible, we seek out products that have been created with love and care, with attention to detail and craft.

Though the shop is modest in size, the selection is wide and encompasses everything from housewares, to personal accessories, to women’s clothing. Our goods come from all over – including local, independent designers, heritage brands and fair trade artisans.

For you, we hope this translates into something of value. Where items are of heirloom quality and timeless appeal. Where a seemingly humble object will be something you love to pick up and use each day, and the patina of use just makes it better.
