(via) The way in which food is presented can go a long way in elevating expectation and anticipation, which is why we appreciate the hell out of this interesting set-up in Vietnam and wish we had the exact same thing right here in Vancouver. The photos depict the first location in the country of the Hokkaido-headquartered BAKE chain, which makes adorable little cheese tarts. Here, they’re arranged on trays along the elevating curvature of the shop’s frontage, tempting (taunting) all those who climb the steps in devotional procession to surrender cash in exchange for cute little yellow boxes of them.

Of course, what’s especially striking here is how the concept and design would so elegantly strum our city’s current predilections for one-hit wonder food establishments, our susceptibility to good branding, and our repeatedly demonstrated willingness to gullibly queue for Instagrammable mediocrity. I mean, they’re just fucking cheese tarts. I just happen to really like cheese tarts and know of a few Robson Street addresses that need filling…
