The Goods from L’Abattoir
Vancouver, BC | L’Abattoir is excited to announce the final edition of the No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews dinner series in 2024, scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th. This exclusive charity dinner will feature a collaboration between Chef Lee Cooper and Chef Kristian Eligh of Marilena Cafe and Raw Bar in Victoria, recently recognized as Best New Restaurant by Canada’s 100 Best.
Chef Eligh, known for his refined approach to coastal cuisine, has a long-standing friendship with Chef Lee Cooper beginning back in 2010 when they worked together as opening Sous Chefs at Market by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. This reunion promises to bring a unique blend of their combined culinary talents, offering guests an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates the Pacific Northwest.
“Kristain and I have worked side by side at a number of culinary events over the years after we first worked together at Market, but it’s always special to welcome him into our kitchen at L’Abattoir,” says Chef Lee Cooper. “I know he will bring something truly memorable to both the evening and the menu for Edition No. 24 of our No 1 Gaoler’s Mews dinner.”
No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews is a 9-seat, chef’s table experience that allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the culinary process, with the chefs preparing and presenting dishes just across the counter. The evening includes an elevated multi-course menu paired with carefully selected beverages, designed to create a highly personalized and intimate dining occasion.
As part of its commitment to fostering the next generation of culinary and hospitality talent, L’Abattoir also offers a mentorship program during No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews events. This program provides hospitality and culinary students and recent graduates with hands-on experience alongside industry veterans. Those interested in applying for the mentorship program can do so by September 27th, 2024, through the mentorship page on the L’Abattoir website.
L’Abattoir is proud to partner with S. Pellegrino and One and Only Events to bring this extraordinary evening to life. Tickets are priced at $500 per guest plus applicable taxes and gratuity, with all proceeds benefiting The Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House (DTESNH). Ticket sales for this edition launched today and are available here while supplies last.
