Welcome to the Vancouver Lexicon. Its purpose is to pin down the patois of the City of Vancouver by recording its toponyms, nicknames, slang terms, personalities, places, and other Van-centric things. Full A-Z here.
Inside Passage | sea route, place | A spectacular north-south route of travel that hugs the coast of the Pacific Northwest all the way from Puget Sound to Alaska, weaving through the islands nearest the (mostly British Columbian) mainland without risking the dangers of the open ocean. The term is also commonly applied as a toponymic catch-all to describe the entirety of the lands along the route.
A great name for a psych-rock band that doesn’t exist yet.
Usage: “One of my life goals is to travel the Inside Passage from Victoria all the way north to Skagway and then back again…”
