The GOODS from Tacofino
Vancouver, BC | Tacofino is marking the first anniversary of its flagship Gastown location by serving up a celebratory special to its loyal customers that will also raise funds to benefit the local community it calls home.
On Saturday, Jan. 30 between 11 a.m. and midnight, Tacofino’s Burrito Bar at 15 West Cordova St. will offer their famous Baja-style fish tacos at half-price ($3 per order), with all proceeds donated to Potluck Café Society, an outreach program in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) that creates jobs for people with barriers to employment and provides healthy food options.
An additional $1 will also be donated by Tacofino to Potluck Café Society with every use of the hashtag #tacoversary shared to Instagram or Twitter between now and Saturday, Jan. 30.
“We’re so thankful to both our customers and the local neighbourhood for embracing us over the past year and we wanted to give a little something back to show our gratitude,” says Kaeli Robinsong, who co-founded the original Tacofino Cantina in Tofino, BC with Jason Sussman in 2009 and now operate a fleet of food trucks and three brick-and-mortar restaurants.
It’s been a successful first year for the Gastown location, which opened its doors last January for dinner service in a fully restored heritage building featuring an 80-seat dining room and 20-seat lounge as well as the adjoining Burrito Bar take-out counter facing West Cordova St. The location continued to expand its menu throughout the year, adding lunch service and a 16-seat patio overlooking Blood Alley Square in April, with Happy Hour specials following in November.

About Tacofino

Tacofino was born out of a desire to create a unique dining experience by offering quality, freshness and affordability with an environmental and nutritional conscience. Fast “slow” food is a concept that really appeals to us, so we make everything from scratch and with love, but without the wait. Our menu is inspired by our world travels, taking the Baja-style taco to another level. Our truck has been a phenomenon in Tofino; it is vibrant, bright orange, with local artist Lee Robinsong’s painting of the Virgin de Guadalupe holding a taco. It is an homage to the birthplace of the taco, Mexico and Baja California. We now have trucks in Vancouver and Victoria as well; and most recently, two new restaurants in Vancouver, one on East Hastings and one in Gastown.
