The GOODS from Supermarine

Vancouver, BC | Supermarine Seafood & Cocktails is thrilled to announce Jesse Grasso will return home to Vancouver to lead the kitchen as Executive Chef. Perhaps best known for his time as Head Chef of Toronto’s award-winning The Black Hoof, Jesse had significant influence on Toronto’s dining scene during his tenure, making his mark with creative takes on offal and charcuterie. In addition to his new role in the kitchen at Supermarine, Chef Jesse will act as Development Chef for all restaurants owned and operated by Gooseneck Hospitality, which also runs the West Side’s Pizzeria Bufala and Gastown’s Wildebeest.

Chef Jesse is a longtime friend of restaurateurs James Iranzad and Josh Pape, who own and operate Gooseneck Hospitality. “We’re so excited to have Jesse join our awesome culinary team and we’re eager to put his considerable talents to work,” says Iranzad. “He wholeheartedly embraces and shares our philosophy, which is that food should be playful and delicious, backed by incredible technique and tight execution. We’re excited to see him shape Supermarine’s menu and to allow his creativity to guide our vision for the restaurants.”

During his time at The Black Hoof, Chef Jesse was known for his skill with meats, offcuts, and offal. At Supermarine, Jesse will be embracing seafood and vegetables with his trademark fervour, and in the coming weeks will release an updated menu. Expect dishes casual enough to enjoy with unreserved enthusiasm, which will also have the chops to stand up to Pape’s considerable cocktail program.

Prior to his time at The Black Hoof, Chef Jesse was in Vancouver, cooking in the kitchens of Abigail’s Party, Bao Bei, and La Quercia. Earlier this year he spent an amazing evening behind the stove at Wildebeest, representing The Black Hoof during a successful collaborative dinner with EAT! Vancouver.
