Cascadia

2000px-flag_of_cascadia

Cascadia | Dream, Nation, Bioregion | A long proposed country that sees the political union of the Canadian province of British Columbia with the American states of Oregon and Washington (the borders are sometimes extended to include Northern California and bits of Idaho, Alaska and the Yukon). Believers in “the movement” – people who view Cascadia as an historic inevitability for any number of reasons (often a conspiracist brew of xenophobic antipathy and survivalist panic) – cite pre-existing shared affections for environmentalism, bioregionalism and civil liberties as the main sources of grease on their motivational tracks. These are further slicked by an acute distrust of their respective eastern overlords in Ottawa and Washington, DC. The entirely imaginary Cascadia even has its own flag (pictured above). It is referred to simply as “The Doug” or more colloquially as “Old Doug”.

Usage: “Things would be a hell of a lot different if we were living in Cascadia instead of this bullshit…”
