Selene Aegean Bistro Launches Brunch Service

The Goods from Selene Aegean Bistro

Vancouver, BC | Selene Aegean Bistro is bringing the warmth and flavours of the Mediterranean to weekend mornings with the launch of its new brunch menu. Inspired by the coastal cuisines of Greece and Turkey, the menu features inventive savoury and sweet dishes, from meze-style bites to larger plates. Examples include Shakshuka with soft-poached eggs and tirokafteri, Cilbir with baharat chili crunch and tzatziki, and Pistachio Honey Toast with whipped ganache and toasted coconut. Brunch service begins Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6, 2025, with reservations available now online.

“We’ve been planning for brunch at Selene since day one – it is a natural extension of our dinner service, and we’re excited to officially launch it next month,” says Yianni Kerasiotis, who co-owns Selene Aegean Bistro and several other neighbourhood favourites, Nammos Estiatorio, Loula’s Taverna, and AMA, with his brother Petro Kerasiotis. “The menu is inspired by the morning traditions of Aegean cuisine, where fresh ingredients are at the centre of every dish. Staring the day this way was a huge part of how we grew up. We can’t wait for guests to experience weekend mornings and afternoons with us.”

Selene’s brunch menu, created by co-head chefs Adrian Nate and Arish Dastoor, is structured by sections – Meze, Half Moon, and Full Moon. Meze-style plates include Feta-Stuffed Olives with Aleppo chili and citrus and Koulouri with wildflower honey butter and preserved fruit. The Half Moon selection offers a variety of lighter dishes, such as Tabbouleh with freekeh, squash, almond skordalia, and candied seeds; Loukaniko with basil & fennel sausage, sumac red onions, and ladolemono; and Strapatsada Toast with soft scrambled eggs, sun-dried tomato, and barrel-aged feta.

Full Moon dishes feature heartier options, including: Steak & Egg with 4oz ribeye cap, soft-boiled egg, pine nuts, and hummus; Shakshuka with soft poached eggs, tirokafteri, barrel aged feta, and green olive focaccia; and Mushroom & Egg with oyster mushroom souvlaki, pickles, and babaganoush.

“We are humbled by the amazing reception we’ve received in the Hastings-Sunrise community since opening in October,” adds Yianni. “And now with brunch, we hope to become a destination for locals during the day – a place for family gatherings, relaxed mornings, and more.”

Selene Aegean Bistro is located at 360 Penticton Street and is open seven days a week. Brunch service, which begins April 5, 2025, will be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner service is available from 5 p.m. to late. Walk-ins are always welcome.
