Bel Café – Situated in the hub of Vancouver’s business and shopping district, Bel Café combines expertly prepared food and beverages with intelligent and friendly service in an inviting, elegant and chic setting.
Spring 2016 – Anticipation is high for Chef David Hawksworth’s second restaurant, which is due to open in Coal Harbour in early 2016. Echoing the original Hawksworth Restaurant’s emphasis on the best of BC’s seasonal produce, the new restaurant will showcase the region’s incredible variety of fresh flavours with a simple approach of ingredient-forward dishes that combine honed techniques with a modern twist. A strong emphasis will be on shareable plates, and a prominent bar in the 120-seat restaurant will create an approachable, earthy ambience in the industrial chic space.

Hawksworth Cocktail Bar
Our thoughtful bar program reflects the personality of our bar team: nostalgic, modern and a little bit cheeky. Our passionate bartenders shake and stir expertly crafted cocktails that run the gamut from the pre-Prohibition era to modern day. Honouring the integrity of every cocktail through technique and execution is paramount to the foundation of both the team and the program. We use the finest, freshest ingredients to craft seasonal beverages that are beautifully complemented by our ever-evolving craft beer menu, extensive spirits portfolio and carefully-sourced, award-winning wine program. The elegant room features the distinct and eye-catching “Big Love Diamond Dust” by British artist Damien Hirst, alongside a striking handcrafted ceiling, paired with vintage leather banquettes and a Spanish granite bar. Each member of the Hawksworth Cocktail Bar team has an ardent and meticulous passion for cocktail craft and is dedicated to providing a warm welcome in a lively and laid-back setting.
Private Dining

THE YORK ROOM | Overlooking the Vancouver Art Gallery plaza, the York Room is one the city’s most historic and exceptional event spaces. Taking its design inspiration from the 1920s, the dramatic chandeliers and ornate heritage features create an elegant private dining room perfect for intimate gatherings or an important executive dinner, lunch or breakfast meeting. The York Room can accommodate a booking capacity of 63 for a seated dinner, or 110 for a standing reception.
BEL PRIVATE DINING | David Hawksworth’s Bel Café, adjacent to Hawksworth Restaurant, offers an intimate and relaxed private dining space as an alternative to the historic York Room. Bel Private Dining can accommodate an intimate sit-down dinner for up to 20 guests or a stand-up reception for 40. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow for a stunning view of the Vancouver Art Gallery and rich dark wood paneling offers luxurious surroundings, complemented by custom designed wallpaper in a palette of soft colours that create a chic European feel.
Catering

Alongside the unique dining rooms and internationally-acclaimed Cocktail Bar, Hawksworth Restaurant also provides an outstanding off-site catering service. Having worked with a number of high profile-luxury, lifestyle and philanthropic clients, such as Dîner en Blanc, Chanel, Ferrari Maserati of Vancouver and singer songwriter Sarah Mclachlan, Chef David Hawksworth is proud to offer the expertise of his kitchen brigade at a choice of locations.

Situated in the hub of Vancouver’s business and shopping district, David Hawksworth’s Bel Café combines expertly prepared food and beverages with intelligent and friendly service in an inviting, elegant and chic setting. Full table service is provided alongside a selection of ‘ready to go’ items featuring fresh baked pastries, gourmet sandwiches, nourishing soups, delicate tarts and exquisite jewel-toned macarons. Specialty coffees are custom roasted locally by 49th Parallel and served by a team of highly trained baristas. Artisan teas, fresh juices, house cocktails and select wines are also featured.
The Beverage Program

Bel Café has partnered with 49th Parallel Roasters – not only one of the most respected roasters in the world, but a local fixture – to offer delicious and aromatic custom!blends.
The staple of 49th Parallel’s offering at Bel Cafe will be the Hawksworth Epic Espresso. Focusing on seasonality, the blend will change subtly throughout the year – fresh coffees bring new nuances, but the focus is to maintain a balance of acidity and a delicate sweetness.
SPOT Tea is a Vancouver-based company that embraces the contemporary lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest. By offering a modern take on traditional tea and tisanes, SPOT Tea is a perfect addition to the Bel Café family. SPOT Tea’s line at Bel Café is a well-edited collection to include something for everyone, with each blend being named to reflect its individual personality.
Design

At Bel Café, guests can enjoy the ambiance of a casual and chic European café; rich dark wood paneling; zinc service counters and table tops; honed black granite floors and classic leather upholstery play off of sleek menu boards suspended from the ceiling and a shiny high tech Mirage espresso machine by Kees van der Westen. A range of gourmet delights can be temptingly viewed through climate controlled glass display cases.
Fashioned from chromed ribbons of aluminum, reminiscent of spun sugar, Bel’s one-of-a-kind chandelier complements custom wallpaper in a palette of muted tones that reflect the soothing elegance and whimsy aesthetic of Bel. With careful attention to detail and use of quality materials, locally lauded Evoke International Design have created a gift-wrapped fanciful room that seamlessly blends its heritage roots with the vibrancy of its downtown setting and contemporary exceptional offerings.
