The GOODS from Araxi

Whistler, BC | Araxi Restaurant and Oyster Bar is once again welcoming guests to the most anticipated event of Whistler’s Cornucopia festival – The Big Guns: Icons of the Wine World dinner – on Friday, November 6th.

Drawing on his international repertoire and the best of the local harvest, Executive Chef James Walt has teamed with Wine Director and 2013 Sommelier of the Year Samantha Rahn and Restaurant Director Neil Henderson to prepare a six-course feast and an extraordinary evening. “We are taking guests on an exquisite culinary journey,” said Walt. “We begin the evening in the old world, with stops in France and Italy, and end in the new world, with stops in Australia and Canada,” added Rahn.

Araxi Restaurant is also hosting a series of intimate wine dinners, showcasing a spectacular selection of highly rated, rare, and collectable wines from British Columbia, California, Italy, France, and Australia. Highlights include an exploration of big, bold wines from Australia’s Barossa Valley with Torbreck Wines, featuring the 2009 RunRig; a tour of Italy with Filippo Pulisci from Antinori Estates, including the ‘Super Tuscan’ Tignanello; and an indulgence in the luxury portfolio of Moet Hennessy, featuring champagne, wine, cognac, and scotch.

Araxi Restaurant’s Cornucopia dinners sell out quickly. Find detailed information and purchase tickets online at whistlercornucopia.com.

Gorgeous photography and accessible recipes frame the seasons and chef James Walt’s celebration of our region’s bounty in Araxi: Seasonal Recipes from the Celebrated Whistler Restaurant. A graduate of Stratford, Walt’s sterling career includes the executive chef position at the Canadian Embassy in Rome. The highly anticipated cookbook was just released to high praise by both patrons and Walt’s peers, including chefs Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal. Walt’s distinct Canadian style – that celebrates both local farms and coastal fisheries – has won praise and ovations at New York City’s James Beard House where he has showcased his talents three times. Now long established as Whistler’s finest dining experience, Araxi also features exceptional dessert recipes from pastry chef Aaron Heath and wine pairings from Samantha Rahn.
