The Goods from Meo
Vancouver, BC | Meo, Vancouver Chinatown’s destination for provocative food and drinks and No. 92 on North America’s 50 Best Bars extended list, is launching a brand new cocktail menu on October 10, 2025, inspired by the golden era of television. Bar manager Denis Bykov draws on the charm of classic TV guides and iconic shows from the 70s to 90s, bringing a bit of retro fun with each sip. The whole menu will be switched up, save for four guest favourites from its award-winning “Fruits Are Not Vegetables” concept.
“I’m especially excited about this menu because I grew up watching these shows and drinking these cocktails. Reimagining them through a more nuanced lens has been an incredibly fun and creative process. There’s a real appetite for nostalgia right now and we wanted to capture that by drawing inspiration from the classic TV shows we all grew up with,” says Ling, who operates Bao Bei, Kissa Tanto, and Meo together with chefs Joël Watanabe and Alain Chow. “Denis and the team have created something that is both playful and sophisticated at the same time, and distinctly Meo – a little bit of escapism, just like the shows that inspired them.”
Highlights from Bykov’s new menu includes eight signature cocktails, such as a Tequila Sunrise riff (Sotol La Higuera, Melrose Pineau Blanc, angelica root cordial, reduced orange juice, prickly pear mead) inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a Lemon Drop Martini (Malfy gin, bergamot, preserved lemon, za’atar, lemon Sable) reimagined through I Dream of Jeannie.
“Working with more local vendors was important to me because there is so much talent in B.C and we want to develop a community amongst local businesses,” adds Bykov. “Creating cocktails with local products is a chance to tell a bit of their story and our guests can discover them through a drink at Meo.”
Now considered Meo go-to classics, the Dirty Lychee, Spicy Margarita, Paloma, and Matcha Highball will remain.
The new menu will once again be visually designed by creative studio Glasfurd & Walker, who also designed Meo’s inaugural “Fruits Are Not Vegetables” menu, which was shortlisted for World’s 50 Best Bars Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award.
