Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 8, when you can treat your mother, aunt, wife, best friend and other leading ladies in your life to Burdock & Co’s sumptuous brunch, designed by award-winning Chef Andrea Carlson. Burdock & Co’s vegetable-forward menu brings raw materials to the forefront. The brunch menu – whose culinary delights span chickpea tagine with squash and dates, bacon frittata with smoked cheddar, and eggs benny in lemon hollandaise – is a local favourite, earning the award for Vancouver’s Best Brunch in the 2018 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards.
Chef Andrea’s recently released cookbook, Burdock & Co: Poetic Recipes Inspired by Ocean, Land & Air, inspires readers with beautiful writing and strikingly photographed dishes that pays homage to the natural bounty surrounding us and the farmers, foragers and growers that lovingly tend the land. To commemorate International Women’s Day, Chef Andrea will gift all brunch attendees with a signed copy of the book ($35 value).
Over the past decade, Chef Andrea has left a resounding legacy on Vancouver’s dining scene with her focus on homegrown ingredients, active support of local food systems, and strong relationships with farmers and growers. Her close connection to food and nature is the foundation of her culinary philosophy, one that has led her to be inducted into the 2018 BC Restaurant Hall of Fame and an appearance on Food Network’s Big Food Bucket List in 2019.
Chef’s love for the land is reflected by the aesthetic and earthy dishes she creates at Burdock & Co and sister restaurant Harvest Community Foods, where her constantly evolving menus are influenced by BC’s diverse environments.
Burdock & Co’s International Women’s Day brunch takes place on Sunday, March 8, with three seatings at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $54 per person (plus tax and gratuity), and include food as well as a signed copy of Chef Andrea’s cookbook.
