Where the Unstoppable Keighty Gallagher Likes to Eat and Drink in Vancouver

The Dishes is a repeating Scout column that asks Vancouverites to walk us through a map of their ideal day and night on the town. We’re talking breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night cocktails. Tax and tip included.

For our latest edition of The Dishes we ask Keighty Gallagher, founder of Strathcona/Chinatown’s busy Tight Club Athletics, to take us on personal culinary tour of Vancouver…

Good morning! What’s for brunch?

Hands down, Dock Lunch. It’s the cutest place ever, the service is absolutely wonderful, and the home-style cooking makes me feel like my Mom’s in the kitchen.

Where should we meet for coffee/tea?

Hunnybee so I can introduce you to all my friends and neighbours and clients and to eat the best cookies and muffins in the city.

Now we’re hungry again. What’s for lunch?

Harvest, duh! Gabe’s soups keep me alive.

Who has you figured out at Happy Hour?

Vancouver does happy hour? Dang, I guess I don’t get off work early enough…

What’s for dinner?

These days I Fresh Prep the shit out of dinner. But…if I’m going out, Bao Bei and Di Beppe are at the top of my list.

Where are you taking us for late night cocktails?

I keep finding myself at the Pac Rim Lobby Bar. The bartenders are so lovely and I’ll often remember the next day that I danced with my arms up and my eyes closed to the sweet serenading house band.

Wine Seller, Incense Maker and Tea Drinker, Rasoul Salehi, Does ‘The Dishes’

Rasoul's palate and sense of smell are finely tuned, translating to a next level appreciation of food and wine, making him a great resource to draw on for a list of fantastic places to dine in Vancouver - going above and beyond by answering a few questions that we didn't even ask!

Francis Arevalo Does The Dishes

Get acquainted with the Vancouver-based, Filipino-Canadian rapper and producer - and whet your sonic and stomach appetites - via his recommendations (heavy on Filipino flavours) for eating and drinking around town.

Kate Snyder Does ‘The Dishes’

In this edition, we consult the Co-Founder and Principal at Studio Roslyn - the Vancouver-based interior design and creative consulting firm behind several of our favourite local restaurants and other spaces - not for design advice, but to find out about her favourite places for eating and drinking around town...

Sunja Link Does The Dishes

We already know that the local clothing designer and owner of Main Street boutique and spa, Sunja Link Body Shoppe, has discerning taste when it comes to the products and items that she puts on her body. So we're unsurprised that she's equally thoughtful about what food and drink she prefers to put into it.
