Vancouver’s Most Photographed Convenience Store Gets a Makeover

Strathcona’s iconic Vernon Drive Grocery got a makeover this past weekend. While it’s clear the intention was to restore the facade to its former glory I’m sure there will be many who will miss its faded and rusted patina. Under different names, the little convenience store at 704 Vernon Drive has been a fixture in the neighbourhood for over a hundred years. It recently went up for sale as part of a lot that includes the two-storey 1901 house next door. The price? $2.58 million.
