Local Chef-Made Short Documentary ‘Off The Line’ to Screen at Special Feast

The GOODS from the Chefs’ Table Society of BC

Vancouver, BC | Join chefs Colin Staus and Rhys Amber of Campagnolo Restaurants on October 21, 2018 at 6 p.m. as they host a harvest community dinner at Campagnolo (1020 Main Street) to celebrate the exclusive pre-screening of their passion project, a documentary short entitled Off The Line.

Created in partnership with Chefs’ Table Society of BC, the family-style meal features a menu comprised of locally sourced produce and ingredients hand-selected by the chefs. Not only do guests have a chance to meet, dine, and mingle with farmers and producers highlighted in the film, but they also have a chance to be included in the final cut of the documentary, as the video’s closing scenes from the dinner will be filmed.

The pervading question in the restaurant industry these days continues to be, “Do you know where your food comes from?” It is easy to simply answer yes, but chefs Staus and Amber takes it a step further with Off The Line.

“In our eyes, it’s the people behind the production that are the key to food quality. If consumers are emotionally invested and educated about the food they wish to purchase, they’ll be more likely to seek out producers who are growing and raising the highest quality products ethically and sustainably,” says chef Staus, co-founder of Off The Line. “We see Off The Line as a catalyst to begin rebuilding the derelict pathways within the network of our communities. We want to provoke people to connect with local food sources and the producers behind them.”

Staus and Amber travelled across the province over the course of three months in search of passionate producers and farmers to highlight the fruits of their labour. Up-and-coming videographer Noah Kent travelled with them to capture their journey of selection and discovery. Off The Line promises to be an informative, entertaining, and perspective-changing narrative, accompanying a soulful meal that celebrates the bounty of our community and province.

“We invite our guests to seize this opportunity, share in our discoveries, and meet the people who inspire us,” adds Staus.

Featured suppliers will include but not be limited to: Sawmill Bay Shellfish, Vancouver Island Salt Co., Hopcott Premium Meats, Turtle Valley Bison, Stoney Paradise Farms, Glorious Organics, Hives for Humanity, and North Arm Farm.

“We’re incredibly honoured to have been afforded this opportunity by the Chefs’ Table Society and Campagnolo restaurants. We can’t wait to cook some soulful food without pretense for the community and share our story,” explains Amber, chef and co-founder of Off The Line. “It’s going to be an inspiring evening—we’re very excited.”

Tickets will be available on Eventbrite starting October 5th. $100 per person (excluding tax and gratuity) covers dinner. Wine and alternative beverage pairings will be available.8
