Gastown’s Spanish-Inspired ‘Tempranillo’ Rolling Out New Autumn Menu on October 4

The GOODS from Tempranillo

Vancouver, BC | Our new fall menu rolls out October 4, with more to love about all things Spain – like braised oxtail, tuna belly poached in olive oil, Serrano ham, chorizo braised in Basque cider and a daily Spanish wet rice. We also will continue to serve off-menu items based on market availability and can accommodate a variety of dietary needs. And if you find yourself craving a glass of crisp and nutty Manzanilla sherry or a rich and spicy red wine like a Jumilla Monastrell, we have something for all occasions. Check out the full menu at tempranilloyvr.ca.

About Tempranillo

The name Tempranillo pays homage to Spain’s “noble grape” – the main grape grown in the Rioja region, known for its early ripening and ability to produce full bodied wines that can be enjoyed young as well as aged. At Gastown’s Tempranillo, guests savour Spanish and Spanish-inspired food, with wines and sherry carefully selected to complement the unique flavours. We serve raciones – bigger than a tapas plate so that each is easily shared amongst several friends, and substantial enough to be enjoyed alone.

The inspiration for Tempranillo comes from chef/co-owner William Robitaille’s (ex-Notturno, Kozakura) travels and work in Spain, where he cooked, dined and conversed with some of Spain’s best chefs. Spain is synonymous with quality and casual dining with friends and family. That’s what we aspire to achieve here – a place where good food and drink is a given and where you’re at home whether you’re on your own or with a crowd. Manager Ben De Champlain (ex-Boneta, Cinara), complements Bill’s food with a carefully curated drink list that is updated regularly. Spanish sherry and cider lovers will welcome the new options that Ben is sourcing.

Master woodworkers Josh Hooge and Steve McFarlane of J&S Reclaimed Wood Custom Furniture created the feature wall and bar counter, and handcrafted the wooden stools for the front of house tables. The room design, which combines modern detailing with the rustic look synonymous with the surrounding Gastown neighbourhood, is based on original concepts by Andrea Rodman Interiors. The bathroom artwork by Gastown’s own and very talented Ann Wilson blends the beauty and expression of a traditional Spanish flamenco dress with the magic and intrigue of metamorphosis.
