Whenever Pasta Appears on the Menu at The Mackenzie Room, Pounce On It

You Need To Try This is a running archive of all the awesome drinks and delicious dishes we’ve come across over the course of our professional and private lives.

I’ve been told that it’s rare for The Mackenzie Room to make a fresh pasta dish but when they do it’s really good stuff and worth pouncing on. Case in point: this fantastic ravioli. You can’t really see them in all their plump glory in the shot above as they’re hiding under a blanket of spring greens and petals, but these were beautiful things stuffed with whipped sunchokes and electrified with spring onion, garlic and all the seasoned beurre blanc in the world.

The menu changes so often at this Japantown eatery that very few things are sure things, other than whatever it is is likely to be delicious. The sunchoke ravioli in question has been on the menu for at least the last two nights, so chances are it’ll be there tonight too. Pair it with a Je Suis Un Ananas cocktail – tequila, pineapple, chili, lime, rose salt, egg white (pictured below) and you’re golden.
