Viaducts

viaducts

Viaducts | Thing | Acting like a vomitorium that spits traffic out of the downtown core into a freeway system that was never built, the viaducts are a contentious and symbolic piece of urban infrastructure. They were responsible for the destruction of Hogan’s Alley, and are widely seen as physical and psychological barriers that cut off neighbourhoods from the waterfront and each other, which is why the current city council wants to remove them. Not surprisingly, Concord Pacific owns a huge chunk of land next to the viaducts, so their removal is in the developers’ best interest. Expect a new urban resort as the result.

Usage: “I hated the viaducts until the city announced they were tearing them down…”
