NIMBY | Lifestyle/Attitude | An acronym for Not In My Back Yard. It entered the city’s lexicon as a means to describe the many residents of Marpole and Dunbar who were loud in their opposition to supportive housing and other social services, but it is now widely used to lampoon anyone who is overly/loudly concerned about the impact that any change might have on the value of their property. Synonymous with the worst kind of shamefully selfish behaviour.
