Fog Zone | toponym | The coastline of Vancouver Island from Owen Point to Port Hardy. This area – roughly 90% of the entire west coast of the island (plus 2km inland) – is usually exempt from provincial fire bans on account of its marine climate, which is to say that it is less susceptible to suddenly bursting into flames. It is where we go when we want a campfire in summer.
Usage: “We booked a campground reservation in the interior before they announced the fire ban, so we’re heading to the Fog Zone instead…”
