Fast Ferries Fiasco | Event | A ’90s politcal “scandal” wherein the NDP believed they could spark a rebuild of BC’s nearly dead ship-building industry by building three “fast cat” ferries. The project was a comedy of errors from the start, and ended in abject failure when the BC Liberals auctioned off the ferries for $19 million in 2003 (the project had cost $460 million).
Usage: “So why are we stuck with the BC Liberals again? Oh yeah, the Fast Ferries Fiasco.”
