Dude Chilling Park | place | What used to be Guelph Park in Mount Pleasant. The new name originated in 2012 after artist Viktor Briestensky’s replaced the official signage with an official-looking prank sign that read “Dude Chilling Park” (a reference to Michael Dennis’s 1999 sculptural installation, “Reclining Figure”). The sign has since been preserved in place as an officially sanctioned public work of art. Unsurprisingly, the NIMBY group RAMP (Ridiculous Asshats of Mount Pleasant?) came out in opposition to the move, outlandishly suggesting that the sign encouraged drug use, because…wait…what?
