BANANA | Acronym | Short for Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone. A term to comically describe any person who is especially nonsensical in their vocal opposition to any kind of development. Though a clear riff on self-serving NIMBYs (short for Not In My Backyard), BANANAs are fundamentally different in that they neither suggest alternative locations for proposed developments nor necessarily protest out of fear or anxiety that said developments might be to their individual detriment, financial or otherwise.
